Tungsten -

Tungsten is a rare metallic element known for its remarkable strength, high melting point, and resistance to wear. It belongs to the chromium group and is typically found in minerals such as wolframite and scheelite. These minerals are often located in or near high-temperature quartz veins, particularly in regions with a history of volcanic or hydrothermal activity. Tungsten is isolated from these ores and appears as a hard, brittle, white to gray metal. It has the highest melting point of all metals (over 6,100 degrees Fahrenheit) and is incredibly dense, making it ideal for use in tools, electrical contacts, light bulb filaments, and military applications. Its durability and resistance to heat also make it valuable in industrial machinery. Though rare, tungsten plays a significant role in modern technology and manufacturing.
