BEHAVIOR — Behavior refers to the actions or responses of an organism to its environment or to other organisms. These responses can be simple or complex and may be influenced by both internal conditions (like hunger or hormones) and external stimuli (such as light, temperature, or the presence of other living things). Behavior can be automatic, like a reflex, or learned through experience, such as solving a problem or recognizing danger. Animals often show behavior when they are searching for food, avoiding predators, protecting their young, or communicating. Even plants show behavior, such as turning toward sunlight or opening their flowers. Scientists study behavior to understand how organisms survive, adapt, and interact with each other. In biology, behavior is an important way to see how life connects with the world it lives in. |
